Service is a cornerstone of Rotary. The Rotary Club of Anthony NM/TX has a tradition of helping out the community.

In its earliest days, the club members would go to the local cemetery to clean it up. They also funded a baseball diamond for the youth in the community to be able to use.

Although the projects have changed, the concept of serving others in the community has not. There are a variety of projects that are currently underway.

Past Projects:

      Backpack Project

The Rotary Club of Anthony NM/TX has been presenting students with the greatest need in the community with backpacks since 2015.

The first year, the club distributed 250 backpacks with school supplies to 250 students in the Gadsden Independent School District. Since then, the project has seen expansion to include other districts in the Anthony NM/TX area and has seen an increase of up to 850 backpacks.

The 2020-2021 school year saw a change in what was needed in school, so the club adapted and provided items such as face masks and water bottles for individual use in addition to composition books and other necessities for school.

      RYLA

The Rotary Youth Leadership Award is an intensive week long training camp that brings together youth and adults. The main goal of the camp is to develop lifelong leadership skills through teamwork, motivation, and communication, while focusing on each student’s individual strengths and abilities. These skills can be taken back to the high school for modeling to other students.

Rotarians contribute their time, energy and passion to the camp by mentoring and bringing in other Rotarians to share their stories and how the youth of today can contribute to the success of all tomorrow.

The Rotary Club of Anthony NM/TX sponsors multiple students to attend the camp every year. In addition to that, the club also sends members to be counselors in the camp.
